Mainstreaming — or integrating — OSH into education means including it systematically in classroom lessons. Ideally it becomes part of everyday life for pupils, parents and staff. EU Commission Strategy on Safety and Health which recommends education be part and parcel of the school curriculum, either with a view to making people more aware of the problem (much like road safety is taught in some countries) or as a vocational subject in its own right”.

If children start learning about safety and health as they learn to read and write, it becomes a natural part of how they work, play and live. They develop a good attitude to safety and health that will stay with them throughout their working lives.

To support this theory we have designed a vocational learning programme based on social legislation relevant to road safety, a subject which affects all of our lives. Working Time – mobile transport activities.
